$99 HP TouchPad: Best Buy to Receive Stock Tomorrow
Best Buy will begin selling a new shipment of HP TouchPads on Nov 1, according to Android Central.
However, the retail outlet will offer the 32GB version for $150 rather than the 16GB for $99.
This is still a solid deal, but the sale does not come without a catch.
“It turns out that Best Buy will be getting a new shipment of the defunct 32GB webOS tablet and will again be selling it for $150. But unlike before, Best Buy and HP are adding an unusual requirement for those interested in buying the tablet. Customers who want to buy the HP TouchPad will only be able to do so if they add an HP computer to their purchase,” wrote Android Central.
This shipment of new TouchPads comes as part of a promise made by the company over a month ago to meet the unfulfilled demand for the scarce device.
The HP TouchPad and WebOS, the device's operating system were discontinued back in the summer when retailers were complaining that they were not able to move the tablet and had them sitting around in overstock.
Prices were slashed on the TouchPad and the device immediately started flying off shelves and become of the most sought after and hard to find tablets on the market.
Meg Whitman, the new CEO of Hewlett Packard confirmed that the company will continue to specialize in manufacturing and selling hardware.
And although the HP TouchPad was discontinued, HP will still make tablets, but now they will include Windows 8 and not WebOS.
It has not been confirmed what the company will call these tablets.
