$99 HP Touchpad Sale: 200,000 Tablets to be Released October
Up to 200,000 HP TouchPad tablets are scheduled to be delivered in an October production run of the discontinued tablet, according to reports.
According to a DigiTimes report, HP will supply 200,000 TouchPad units, including touch panels, batteries, and chassis.
The limited supply of HP tablets, which have been selling in a slash price sale of $99 for the 16GB and $149 for the 32GB, should become available by the end of Oct. although not specific date has been issued by the company.
After the massive success of the $99 TouchPad fire sale, the device was completely sold out worldwide at retailers carrying the hugely discounted price.
HP previously announced: "Despite announcing an end to manufacturing webOS hardware, we have decided to produce one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand."
However, the company added, "We can’t promise we’ll have enough for everyone."
In addition, HP has said it could not guarantee the price reduction at every retailer. On the company’s blog it stated: “Each retailer will manage their own policy and process regarding pricing and price matching. Please contact the local retailer of your choice to see what their current position is.”
On September 1 Bryna Corcoran, HP’s Social Media Manager tweeted, “The US SMB (small medium business) team is working to fulfill orders made prior to Monday, August 22nd at 4 a.m. CT.”
