$99 HP Touchpad Sale: Best Buy Stocks Finally Arrive, But With a Catch

For months consumers have been waiting for Hewlett Packard to re-stock stores with its HP Touchpad tablet, which sold out everywhere where HP’s fire sale was taking place this past summer.

HP discontinued the Touchpad and dropped its price to just $99, which saw all stores selling the tablet at that low price sell out within days.

Since that time rumors have continuously emerged that new stocks would soon be making their way to consumers that missed out on the tablet the first time. It turns out those rumors are true, however, this time round the deal is nowhere near as attractive.

Best Buy recently received new inventory of the tablet, but only the 32GB version, which doesn’t cost $99, but $149.

That’s still a good price, and certainly would be attractive to thousands across the country. However, if you’ve got $150 saved up and thought you could get your hands on a touchpad, unfortunately you would be wrong.

Even though the HP Touchpad has been issued the retail price of $149.99, in order to get one at that price at Best Buy you’ll have to purchase a “qualifying” HP laptop, desktop, or all-in-one computer first.

The catch will obviously put off a majority of those that were looking out and waiting for the past few months for the HP Touchpad stock to be refreshed. Getting just a Touchpad alone would also cost a whopping $599.99.

For most it seems, the search for a mid-to-high range tablet at an affordable price continues.
