$99 HP TouchPad Sale: Get a Free Tablet - 'A Real Steel'
As if offering HP TouchPads for $99 wasn’t enough of a steal, Hewlett Packard is teaming up with Hollywood to give away remaining TouchPads for free.
The HP Sweepstakes are part of a promotional contest for the movie “Real Steel” and will result in the company giving away 20 free TouchPads.
The promotional offer is known as “HP Meets Real Steel in 2020.”

“Real Steel” is a futuristic robot boxing film that is set in the year 2020 and came out in theaters Oct. 7.
The film stars the Hollywood mega-man and Australian actor widely known for his role as wolverine, Hugh Jackman. Five of the 20 TouchPads will also come inscribed with a signature from the wolverine man himself.
In order to enter the sweepstakes, diehard HP fans must “like” the HP page on Facebook and fill out a small form. Winning also requires residency in the United States and that participants must be 18 years of age or older.
HP’s Facebook page says, “Win one of the few remaining HP TouchPads or be one of the lucky five to take home an HP TouchPad signed by Hugh Jackman.”
HP TouchPad fever started this summer when the company slashed prices for its tablet by three quarters of the original retail price because the tablets failed to attract consumer attention as most people continued to opt for the more popular and similarly priced iPad tablet by Apple.
HP originally cut the price of its tablet $100 but still found little demand for their product and ultimately decided to drop out of the tablet business all together slashing their tablet down to $99 and causing a national frenzy.
The HP TouchPad frenzy even reached company employees when HP opened the sale of its remaining $99 tablets to employees in late September. Over 300,000 employees went on the company website to order their tablets and reportedly crashed the site.
Those interested in entering the free TouchPad sweepstakes must act fast as they will end on Oct. 21 at 11:59 p.m. and winners will be drawn on Oct. 26.
