$99 HP Touchpad Sale: More Tablets to Arrive in October
In an effort to satisfy “unfulfilled demand” Hewlett Packard will deliver up to 200,000 HP TouchPad tablets in a late October production run of the discontinued tablet.
According to a DigiTimes report, HP will produce between 100,000 to 200,000 TouchPad units, including touch panels, batteries, and chassis, while maintaining good relationships with companies involved.
The limited supply of HP tablets, which have been selling at the extremely cheap price of $99 for the 16GB and $149 for the 32GB, are set to become available by the end of Oct.
After the massive success of the $99 TouchPad sale, the device was completely sold out worldwide at retailers carrying the hugely discounted price.
HP previously announced: "Despite announcing an end to manufacturing webOS hardware, we have decided to produce one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand."
However, the company added, "We can’t promise we’ll have enough for everyone."
In addition, HP has said it could not guarantee the price reduction at every retailer, as each would be given the freedom to decide whether to implement HP’s sale price or to charge a higher amount.
On the company’s blog it stated: “Each retailer will manage their own policy and process regarding pricing and price matching. Please contact the local retailer of your choice to see what their current position is.”
On September 1 Bryna Corcoran, HP’s Social Media Manager tweeted, “The US SMB (small medium business) team is working to fulfill orders made prior to Monday, August 22nd at 4 a.m. CT.”
