A/G Annual Prayer and Bible Conference Open to All
The 66th annual Assemblies of God (A/G) Nine District Prayer and Bible Conference will be held in conjunction with the denomination¡¯s general Week of Prayer. The conference, which is open to all without registration, is a tradition that brings together the North, South and West Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Rocky Mountain districts.
According to Frank Cargill, the Oklahoma district superintendent, ¡°The original and ongoing intent of this conference is to begin the year with a season of prayer and Bible study in preparation for the year ahead."
This year, the conference is slated for January 4-5, at the Bridge A/G in Mustang, Oklahoma. Running simultaneously is the Week of Prayer, which is slated for January 2-8, 2005.
Thomas Trask, the A/G General Superintendent is the keynote speaker for the Conference; other speakers include Vic Schober, John Lindell and Herbert Cooper. Lindell will be leading attendees in a prayer meeting.
According to AG General Treasurer James Bridges, the conference had its beginnings with a "Convention and Bible Conference" held in Childress, Texas, January 17-22, 1938. It's been held, under slightly different names, ever since.
Cargill adds that on average, 500 attend the conference, but the number can vary due to the location (different every year) and weather conditions.
