A/G Video to Bring Awareness to Pentecost Sunday

On May 10, the Assemblies of God (A/G) made the video “Living with Power” available. The video reflected the theme of this year’s Pentecost Sunday celebration on May 30 which will be observed in conjunction with the World A/G Fellowship Day of Prayer.

The video, produced by the Commission on Evangelism, will help the Church’s effort in raising “awareness level of Pentecost Sunday to the level of Christmas and Easter,” according to Gary Allen, A/G national coordinator for ministerial enrichment.

Pentecost is celebrated in remembrance of the Day of Pentecost found in Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit of God made its dwelling upon men. It reminds believers of the importance of the Holy Spirit in the life of each individual.

"Pentecost is a process of our spiritual development, not just an event," said Allen.

The reason, Allen says, is to realize the importance of the Holy Spirit in the life of each individual.

“Living with Power” is available in a 5-minute and 9-minute version. The informational website says, “This video is designed for Sunday morning viewing. It focuses on the present-day move of God’s Spirit around the world and why believers need the Spirit’s empowerment in everyday living.”

Both versions of the program, which are made available in VHS and DVD formats, can be previewed online. The 5-minute version is also made in Spanish and for the hearing impaired.

During the 5-minute video, believers give testimonies on how the Holy Spirit has enabled them to have love, forgiveness, passion, and strength. “It is the Holy Spirit working in us…empowering us to be what God wants us to be…and to do what He has called us to do,” says the narrator.

Randy Hurst, commissioner on evangelism for the Assemblies of God, says this year's video will focus on the comprehensive nature of the Holy Spirit's empowerment in the life of a believer.

"Pentecost Sunday is both about the fulfillment of our Lord's promise of the Spirit's power and every aspect of Christian life that is affected as a result," Hurst says. "And it is about the Spirit's empowerment of the church to be witnesses every day all year long."

The video is available through Gospel Publishing House (1-800-641-4310) or online at http://evangelism.ag.org.
