A Veteran Gives This Country Star A Heartfelt Gift for Helping the Wounded Warrior Project
This country megastar, Brantley Gilbert, has been nominated for at least 13 major awards, winning five. Nothing will top his latest award, though, which was given to him by a wounded veteran after a very powerful speech. You will have goosebumps all over after hearing this man speak.
After spending Memorial Day with former soldiers and raising funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, Staff Sergeant Justin Patterson gave Gilbert his first Purple Heart. This man served on five tours of duty in Iraq as an Army sniper and thanked Gilbert for his awareness about the issue veterans face when they return home. Patterson has earned several medals and three Purple Hearts during his time in Iraq. But his time ended when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb.
The traumatic injury forever changed his life. But ever since he started working the Wounded Warrior Project, he is improving and venturing out of his home more often. The Rolling Odyssey ride looks to bring attention to those soldiers suffering from PTSD.
This gift means the world to Gilbert and more importantly, he has gained a lifelong friend.
