Aaron Herenandez Investigation Update: Thaddeus Singleton Dies in Car Crash in Vehicle Registered to Herenandez's Uncle
A person sought by police in connection with the ingoing Aaron Hernandez murder investigation died in a car crash on Sunday, in yet another twist in the ongoing saga.
Thaddeus Singleton III was killed in a one-car accident in Connecticut with the vehicle being registered to Andres Valderrama, Hernandez's uncle, according to The Hartford Courant Singleton.
Singleton, 33, was also married to Hernandez's cousin and was traveling with a female passenger, but her identity had yet to be confirmed.
Hernandez is being held on a charge of first-degree murder and has been ordered held without bail.
The news also comes after the New England Patriots announced that they had released the 23 year old from their books after the arrest was made public. Hernandez was taken into custody and arraigned in Attleboro District Court.
He has been charged with murder and carrying a firearm without a license in relation to the death of 27 year old Odin Lloyd.
The victim in the incident was found dead in a field Monday, June 17 less than half a mile away from where Hernandez resides.
Authorities now believe they have enough evidence to show that Hernandez shot Lloyd twice. He then allegedly stood over Lloyd's body and shot him a further three times.
Investigators have recovered .45 caliber shell casings from the scene of the killing, although at the moment they have not been able to locate the murder weapon.
Prosecutors believe that on June 17 Hernandez and two other men picked up Lloyd in Dorchester at about 2.30 a.m. in their rented Nissan Altima and would shoot him dead later that night.
They described that Hernandez was allegedly upset with Lloyd for speaking to someone at Club Rumor in Boston earlier in the weekend. He allegedly said that he could not trust Lloyd, according to investigators.
