Aaron Paul Gets 'Breaking Bad' Cameo on 'Saturday Night Live' for Obamacare (VIDEO)
My Friend Got 'Cancer Sick' and Started 'Cooking Meth,' Says Jesse Pinkman
Aaron Paul had a "Breaking Bad" cameo on "Saturday Night Live" in support of the Affordable Care Act. The cold open to the show featured "SNL" cast member Jay Pharoah as President Obama, who brought up "Jesse from New Mexico" to help explain the complicated new healthcare system.
Aaron Paul's "Breaking Bad" cameo on "SNL" came at the end of the sketch. Paul plays Jesse Pinkman on "Breaking Bad," the partner of the infamous methamphetamine kingpin Walter White. During the comedy skit, Pharoah's Obama had him elaborate on what could happen when someone doesn't have access to affordable medical coverage.
"I had this friend and he got sick. Like, cancer sick," Paul began. "But because there wasn't Obamacare, he couldn't afford the treatments. So he was like backed into a corner."
"Keep in mind, this man was a teacher with a family," Pharoah interjected.
"So he did what any of us would have done. He started cooking meth," Paul continued, to the horror of parody Obama. "And soon it wasn't just meth. It was murder. And not regular murder. Like— he blew half a guy's face off."
Pharoah's Obama interrupted Paul before he could frighten the audience further with tales of Heisenberg's criminal history.
"Wait, you don't wanna know what happened to my friend?" Paul asked, and both Obama and the audience answered with a resounding "no!"
Paul appeared on the show to promote the last episode of "Breaking Bad," which aired Sunday at 9 p.m. EST. His character Jesse Pinkman, Walter White, Skyler and many of the characters were featured in the extra-long episode, which concluded the lauded AMC series.
Paul is also appearing in car racing film "Need for Speed," in which he plays a jaded racer bent on revenge. A trailer for the film appeared during the series finale of "Breaking Bad," effectively capturing much of Paul's fans' attention. The film will be released in March of 2014.
