Acer, HP and Lenovo to Launch Entry-Level Laptops With Windows 10 S; Priced Below $350
More computer manufacturers such as Acer, HP and Lenovo are going to release lower-tier laptops with Windows 10 S as their standard operating systems.
Several days ago, Microsoft confirmed that at least four laptops will be released in the coming months leading up to 2018 that will run with Windows 10 S. These were designed for the group of consumers that Microsoft calls the "Firstline Workers."
HP is expected to release the 14-inch Stream 14 Pro this month, and it will cost $275. Meanwhile, Acer has two new entry-level laptops coming up, namely the 14-inch Acer Aspire 1 and the 13-inch Acer Swift 1 that will be priced $299 and $349, respectively. These will both be released later this year. Lastly, Lenovo will launch the V330 laptop for $349 as well but on a later schedule - February 2018. All laptops were described as being Ultraslim.

Windows 10 S was launched in May alongside the student-friendly Surface Laptop. It is a streamlined version of the common Windows 10 OS, and just like the said Microsoft-made laptop, it was designed for students' use for the most part.
It is streamlined in various ways. For one, Windows 10 S provides limited options for web browsing and desktop programs. With it, users cannot browse and search the internet by means of third-party products, which means they can only access the internet with Microsoft Edge and Bing.
The same rule also applies when downloading and installing applications and software programs. If an app, music and other contents are not in the Windows Store, that means they are off-limits for the Windows 10 S-run laptop.
However, on the brighter side, these are the consequences to bear in exchange for a much faster boot time and computer performance, as Microsoft claimed. In a statement, the company reiterated: "[Windows 10 S] is designed for performance, start-ups are quick and built to stay that way so that productivity never slows down, even on entry-level devices."
Microsoft added: "Windows 10 S has the goal of preventing the most common cyber attacks like ransomware and exploits. Applications built on the Universal Windows Platform or Centennial are delivered via the Windows Store ensuring they have been verified for security and integrity."
