Actor, Comedian Tracy Morgan in Critical Condition After Six-Vehicle Crash; Fans Pray for Recovery
Popular actor and comedian Tracy Morgan, 45, is reportedly in critical condition after the limo bus he was traveling in early Saturday morning was involved in a crash along the New Jersey Turnpike that left one person dead and several others injured.
State police told NBC10.com that the limo bus the former "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock" actor was traveling in, overturned at about 1 a.m. Saturday. Sgt. Gregory Williams of the New Jersey State Police told CNN that the accident happened in Mercer County.
Authorities report that one person died and seven others are being treated for injuries.
"The limo bus is the only vehicle that overturned," Williams said. "Looks like one of the tractor-trailers may have rear-ended that limo bus, but that's preliminary at this time."
He explained that he didn't believe alcohol played a part in the accident but said the investigation is still underway.
Six vehicles in total were involved in the crash according to NBC10.com. CNN noted that one of two tractor-trailers and an SUV were a part of the mix.
Peter Haigney, a spokesman for the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, told CNN that four of the accident victims are being treated there. Three of them were in critical condition and a man named Tracy Morgan is one of them. State police confirmed it was the entertainer.
Morgan was slated to perform at Dover Downs Casino in Dover, Del., last night and since news broke of the accident Saturday morning, there has been an outpouring of support for him on social media.
"Prayers for Tracy Morgan who is in intensive care following a car crash in New Jersey!" noted Megu Kolanko on Twitter.
