Actor Writes Book to Evangelize Hollywood

Steve Cha has willingly sacrificed his career as a Hollywood actor to start a mission to convert the entertainment industry.

In Steve Cha’s book, “Hollywood Mission: Possible”, he recounts his experiences as he takes an unlikely journey to evangelize the souls of Hollywood. Cha, who was a background actor for three years, believes Christians in Hollywood could make a difference.

“Christians need to start making a difference in the entertainment industry, the community around them, and the entire world by evangelizing lost souls,” Cha said in a press release.

On his website, Cha says he “infiltrated Hollywood with the purpose of carrying the mission to bring the light of salvation to those entrapped by the powers of darkness.”

During his time in Hollywood, Cha has worked on the set of over a hundred films, television shows, and commercials. He used this access to evangelize background artists, crew members and even A-list celebrities. His book tells stories of him working with Brad Pitt, David Fencher, Tori Spelling, James Woods, Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford and Dan Aykroyd.

Cha evangelized souls in Hollywood by talking to them in-depth about the subject of faith. He discussed things like going to heaven, and made people recognize that they were sinners. He then shared the story of Christ dying for the sins of mankind and preached the need for repentance. He handed out DVDs and other material to further preach the gospel.

He frequently gave out the DVD from Living Waters’ Ministries, “The Greatest Gamble”. He gave this DVD to Dave Fincher on the set of The Social Network and to Wally Pfister, cinematoleger for the “Inception” and the “Dark Knight.”

Dr. Mike Fabarez, Pastor for the Compass Bible Church in Alison Viejo, CA said he is grateful for Steve Cha’s heart.

“Hollywood continues to set the pace in leading millions in Western culture to think and behave in more godless and self-destructive ways,” Fabarez said.

He added, “I am grateful for Steve Cha’s heart which so passionately desires to see those in today’s movie and television industry come to realize their need for the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Hollywood Mission: Possible chronicles negative reactions towards Cha as well as the success stories. He reportedly faced hostility from entertainment industry professionals, which he expected.

“As an ambassador of Christ, I have been loved, hated, misunderstood, ignored, questioned, admired, and insulted,” Cha said. “If we are willing to conquer our fears…for the greater good of the kingdom, our efforts will prove fruitful.”

Cha said he was fired by a prominent casting agency for evangelizing Brad Pitt and Wally Pfister on the set of the movie “Money Ball.”

“In August of 2010, I worked with Brad Pitt and Wally Pfister on the set of Moneyball,” Cha said. “After production, I evangelized them and later got a letter from Central Casting that I had been fired.”

Steve Cha, who is a Los Angeles native, has a B.A. in Asian American Studies and is currently pursuing a M.A. in Theology. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild of America and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. His original calling was to be a movie director.

“I wanted to be the next Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg,” Cha said.

He worked on movie sets to establish connections and get in the business, when he had his spiritual transformation.

“A friend of mine shared his testimony with me and inspired me to do a mission for God or else people would be lost,” Cha said. “He convinced me that no one was reaching out to celebrities and they needed to be touched.”

Cha continued in Hollywood just for the purpose of his mission.

Cha’s new mission is to support Christian actors and actresses and to pray for those in Hollywood he has shared the gospel with. He hopes more Christian evangelists will share their faith in Hollywood and bring a renewal that ultimately results in the production of God-glorifying media content.

He is also the founder and director of the Los Angeles-based Bible fellowship called “Uncensored.” The book, “Hollywood Mission: Possible” can be found on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and winepressbooks.com.
