Adam Lambert, Queen to Rock Sonisphere 2012
American Idol runner up, Adam Lambert, has confirmed that he will open in concert for Queen this summer.
Adam Lambert, who has just released a new single, "Better Than I Know Myself" has announced that he has been invited by the famed rock band Queen, to open in concert this coming July. The singer also plans to release a new album titled "Trespassed" although plans for its release date have been delayed. The album will feature a song written by Bruno Mars.
"I'm working on a couple of new songs last-minute that came in at the end of the cutoff period," he told radio listeners during an on air interview with 94.3 The Point. "We're going to push it so we can work on the songs."
Lambert also explained the importance of his upcoming album. "I have my own new things that I have written on this album," he told the radio. "I have written a lot of the songs, and as a songwriter and artist I really want to get my project out there."
Although Lambert was unclear about his appearance with Queen, he later confirmed on Twitter that he would join the rock band in concert. "As many suspected, I can finally confirm: I have been invited by Queen to sing one very special concert! Sonisphere at Knebworth July 7th!"
"Sorry to be coy about the details the past few weeks, but I made a promise to keep it under wraps as best I could. Gonna be a surreal night!" he added. Earlier Lambert told the radio station that he would be honored to perform with Queen. "I would love to do any kind of guest appearance they have in mind. It would be an honor," he said.
The Associated Press also reported that Queen confirmed the guest appearance. "Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor confirmed Tuesday that the American singer-songwriter will perform vocals for the band's headline set on the second day of the Sonisphere 2012 rock festival," it stated. Lambert also performed on stage with Queen in 2009.
