Adam Lanza-Ryan Lanza Facebook Error: Brother in Newtown Connecticut Shooting Defends Himself (PHOTO)

Adam Lanza's brother, Ryan Lanza, was mistakenly identified by the media on Friday as the shooter in the immediate aftermath of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. The mix up led to Ryan Lanza having to defend himself on Facebook, insisting to people, "It wasn't me I was at work it wasn't me." He was later taken by police for questioning.

The mix up apparently occurred as the real shooter in the horrific massacre, Adam Lanza, was carrying his brother's ID at the time of the shooting. When police found the shooter dead at the scene of the tragedy and the ID, Ryan Lanza's name was linked to the crime.

As news spread that the shooter's name was Ryan Lanza, a stream of media agencies confirmed that he was the shooter, including CNN and The Associated Press.

As people read about 24 year old Ryan, thousands quickly found his Facebook page, sparking Ryan to make a series of bizarre postings denying that he had anything to do with the massacre. It appears as though at the time of his Facebook postings he was still unaware that his younger brother, 20 year old Adam, had massacred 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

In his first post Ryan Lanza stated, "IT WASN'T ME I WAS AT WORK IT WASN'T ME."

He followed that up two minutes later by posting another Facebook comment: "I'm on the bus home now it wasn't me."

Finally three minutes after that post he snapped at the coverage that he was the killer, posting, "Everyone shut the **** up it wasn't me."

Soon after, Ryan would learn about the tragedy and that his younger brother was the mass killer, Ryan was questioned by police in Hoboken, New Jersey, but he was later ruled out as a suspect.

According to The New York Post, it is believed that Adam Lanza had had a dispute with his mother, and killed her at her home before driving to the elementary school and going on a shooting rampage.

When Adam arrived at the school it is reported that he was wearing a bullet proof vest and had as many as three firearms on him, including a semi-automatic rifle. He opened fire at the main entrance of the school before heading for a kindergarten classroom, where it is believed most of the 20 children that died were, according to Fox.

Adam's body was found dead at the school and police confirmed that no bullets were fired by them, indicating that it was likely a suicide after his killing rampage. However, police were unwilling to confirm that the shooter had killed himself and said the circumstances would be revealed later as their investigations progressed.
