Adam Lanza's Body Claimed by Father
Adam Lanza's body was recently claimed by his father, two weeks after Lanza gunned down 27 people in Newtown, Conn.
A spokesman for the Lanza family told The Associated Press Monday that father Peter Lanza claimed the remains of his 20-year-old son, who shot himself after opening fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
No details were given about funeral service plans.
On the morning of Dec. 14, Adam Lanza shot his mother, Nancy, in their Newtown home and then drove to Sandy Hook where he killed 20 first graders and six adults before turning the gun on himself.
It was the second deadliest school shooting in the United States, after the Virginia Tech massacre, where 32 people were killed in 2007.
The last of the Sandy Hook funerals took place on Dec. 22.
No motive has been offered for the killings.
Peter Lanza, an employee with General Electric, had said that like the rest of America, his family was asking why.
Peter and Nancy Lanza were divorced. Peter resides in Stamford, Conn., while his older son, Ryan Lanza, lives in Hoboken, N.J.
Meanwhile, Connecticut lawyer Irving Pinsky plans to sue the state for $100 million in damages on behalf of a 6-year-old girl who survived the shooting but heard gunfire and screaming over the intercom. Pinsky argues that the state failed to provide a safe setting at school.
