Adam Levine Defends Christina Aguilera's Weight
Christina Aguilera's "The Voice" co-host Adam Levine has defended her plus-size in an interview this week.
While speaking with Howard Stern, Levine asserted that Aguilera is a "comfortable woman."
Aguilera has been criticized in recent years for flaunting a much curvier figure.
During Levine's interview, "The Howard Stern Show" host brought up Aguilera and asked, "Why do you think she's got so heavy, is she upset? She used to be so hot! And her clothes are too tight, am I right?"
The Maroon 5 star joked, "Her clothes are right, she likes to wear tight clothes!" before immediately adding, "She clearly likes to talk about being comfortable with being a woman, and snapping her fingers and doing the whole (diva) thing."
As the discussion continued, Stern said, "When you're a plus sized woman, you can't wear the tight clothes anymore," before Levine interrupted him.
"I wouldn't go that far actually," replied "The Voice" host.
Aguilera has also defended herself against criticism about her weight, and blasted the comments by stating she has a positive self-image.
"As long as I'm happy in my own skin, that's all I need. I'm happy with where I'm at. I have a boyfriend that loves my body. I love my body," said the singer one month ago at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
The 31-year-old added that the entertainment business is especially difficult for females.
"Women, we are definitely under a microscope, and under massive scrutiny," said Aguilera. "You got to be strong, powerful, very confident woman."
Levine and Aguilera are joined on "The Voice" by co-hosts Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton. The cast this season will also see guest star "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson. The singer will reportedly appear on an episode that will air this March or April.
"The Voice" airs Mondays on NBC at 8 p.m. EST.
