Adam Sandler Attacked by a Cheetah: 'I Was Going to Let Him Eat Me' (VIDEO)
Adam Sandler was attacked by a cheetah on his travels to Africa. The "Grown Ups 2" actor had taken a vacation and decided to go on safari, but when a trainer let him get up close and personal with the big cat, it jumped on his back, scaring him.
Adam Sandler was on the "The Late Show with David Letterman" Tuesday discussing his latest film, "Grown Ups 2," when he decided to share the incident. After discussing other things, he talked about how he was allowed to feed the cheetahs at one establishment.
"I did have an incident and I sent you guys a little thing," the 46-year-old comedian said. "This is a true story. I went there and they let me in with a cheetah and said I could feed the cheetah water with my hands. So, I did it and it went a little bit wrong."
In the clip, Sandler was bent down by a small pond, dipping his hand in the water to feed the cheetah. As the cheetah walked slowly around, it came up behind the comedian, then quickly sprang on to his back. Sandler barely reacted, and the trainer quickly pulled the big cat off of him. Letterman noted his seemingly calm demeanor.
"You were remarkably composed," the host said.
"Yeah, I played it off real good," Sandler joked. "What happened was they said you're not supposed to bend down low with the water." Letterman laughed, saying they should have told him that in advance.
Sandler admitted to being nervous though, and said his stiff neck and fear was the only reason he froze while being attacked.
"The only reason I didn't react … [was because] I had a stiff neck at the time. So when he jumped on me, I was like, 'Oh my neck,'" he laughed. "All I was going to do was let him eat me. There was not one part of me that was going to fight back. I was like, 'Alright, this is how I'm dying.'"
The "Anger Management" star was also promoting his latest movie, "Grown Ups 2," which also stars David Spade, Kevin James, Chris Rock and Salma Hayek. He told MTV News the movie was titled as such because "it was the easiest to spell."
"[Grown Ups 2] is better than the first," James said during the interview.
