Adam Yauch Dies: MCA of Beastie Boys Dead at 47
Adam Yauch, one of the members of hip-hop group the Beastie Boys, has died at the age of 48, The Christian Post has learned.
Yauch, who was also known as MCA, has been having cancer treatment for three years after his diagnosis in 2009 when a tumor was found in his salivary gland.
The popular group had not performed live together since 2009, and MCA even missed out on the Beastie Boys induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year. His illness forced the group's latest album, Hot Sauce Committee, Part 2, to be delayed and also forced changes to be made to the videos released off the album.
The Beastie Boys are world-renowned; originally forming in 1979 with its three members Adam "MCA" Yauch, Mike "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horowitz. Initially they received recognition for their hardcore punk music, however, over time they developed into a top hip-hop pioneering group.
Their first major album release came in 1986 and was entitled "Licensed to Ill," and their next albums Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head and Ill Communication raised The Beastie Boys to global stardom.
