Adele's Weight Loss Secrets: 'Hello' Singer Lost 21 Pounds Through Food Swaps, Circuits, And Running
Grammy winner Adele's 2015 comeback has been nothing short of spectacular. Her new album "25" has been a certified chartbuster, breaking the single sales week record with 3.38 million copies sold in its first week out and continuing to sell at least another 650,000 in its second week. The video for "Hello" has garnered more than 564 million views on YouTube. And it looks like the singer will again be raking in the trophies at next year's Grammys.
But while Adele fanatics worldwide are enjoying the new songs from "25," fans also couldn't help but notice the singer's slimmer physique.
"Adele has lost 21 pounds this year," an insider revealed to Britain's Closer magazine. "She gets bored on diets, so instead she's made healthy food swaps such as dark chocolate instead of chocolate biscuits, and fish with sweet potato wedges instead of chips."
The source also said that a typical breakfast for the multi-awarded singer would consist of scrambled eggs with avocado and a green juice. Lunch would be soup, sushi, or a salad, with green tea, and dinner would either be rice or veggie pasta. The singer reportedly still eats carbs, but has learned to control her portions.
As for fitness, Adele does circuits and running three times a week, the source said. She reportedly also does light weights. "She feels so much healthier and happier - she's finally confident enough to show off her body," the source added.
In 2012, the Daily Mail reported that the "When We Were Young" singer and her boyfriend Simon Konecki had decided to start living healthier lifestyles. They reportedly went on a vegetarian diet and started jogging with the singer's dog.
In November, 27-year-old Adele spoke to Rolling Stone about her fitness regimen - or lack thereof, admitting that she hates the gym but goes "to get in shape for myself, but not to be a size zero or anything like that."
"I mainly moan," she said. The singer added: "I'm not, like, skipping to the f---ing gym. I don't enjoy it. I do like doing weights. I don't like looking in the mirror. Blood vessels burst on my face really easily, so I'm so conscious when I'm lifting weights not to let them burst in my face. And if I don't tour, you'll catch me back down at the Chinese!"
Adele also told Rolling Stone that she is cutting back on sugar and trying to eat healthy. Since having her child, 3-year-old Angelo, the singer has also quit smoking and has limited her alcohol consumption to about one drink a week.
