Adrian Peterson may have upset some when he seemingly compared his legal issues to those of Darren Wilson, the police officer who was not indicted last night for shooting 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri last Aug.

After it was announced that a grand jury would not indict Wilson in the fatal shooting, a number of people went into an uproar. While many people protested in Ferguson and around the country, others like the 29-year-old suspended Vikings running back took to Twitter to express their thoughts.

The Vikings running back made headlines last September when news broke claiming that he abused his four-year-old son whom the football star struck with a stripped tree branch, resulting in severe lacerations. Although his no-contest plea left him avoiding jail time, it also resulted in his inability to play in the NFL for the season.

When commenting on the Wilson ruling, Peterson related the situation to his own.

"The GRAND JURY DECIDED NOT TO INDICT ME TOO! But that changed a week LATER! MAYBE,BUT NOT LIKELY N THIS CASE #PUTyourTrustNGODnotINtheWORLD," Peterson tweeted.

The tweet caught the attention of a number of people, including media sources who called out Peterson.

"Obtuse Adrian Peterson compares his case to Ferguson," a Yahoo! Sports headline read while The Week magazine wrote an article titled "Adrian Peterson Had the Absolute Worst Take on Michael Brown." A headline on TMZ read, "Adrian Peterson Says Grand Jury Can Reverse Ruling ... Inspires False Hope."

Peterson seemed unbothered by the backlash.

"If you don't like what I have to say, It's simple just don't follow me," he tweeted. "Your opinion doesn't apply to me, I know who I am! #You~without~sin."

While the Christian football star called for prayer for the Brown family, he also posted a picture speaking about God knowing his heart.

"Today, I am so grateful that God knows my heart. Others may misunderstand my good intentions, judge my words or deeds, find fault in what they truly do not understand," Peterson wrote. "But God knows my heart. He knows I am learning, trying, endeavoring, to be all he created me to be."
