Adrienne, Israel Houghton Perform 'Little Drummer Boy' in First Duet (Watch)
Israel Houghton joined his wife, Adrienne, on the set of the daytime talk show "The Real" on Friday to perform their first duet together by singing the Christmas classic "Little Drummer Boy."
In a clip of the performance posted on YouTube, the pair are dressed in all white with Israel seated and playing a white piano. Adrienne begins belting out the first verse of "Little Drummer Boy" while Israel harmonizes with background vocals.
Last month, Adrienne, a former member of girl groups 3LW and The Cheetah Girls, hinted at a Christmas collaboration with Israel, lead singer of Israel & New Breed. In an interview with The Boombox in November, Adrienne was asked if she and Houghton would ever collaborate on a gospel album together. While she didn't give a direct answer, she said there was a possibility of a Christmas themed collaboration.
"In the future, maybe. Maybe something for Christmas," Adrienne responded. "It's not a no, but we haven't really talked about it. The only thing we've talked about is maybe doing something fun for Christmas."
The daytime talk show host told Boombox that even though some people are just now realizing that she's a Christian since marrying Houghton, she said she grew up in a family that has a strong foundation in the Christian faith.
"It's so funny when I hear it like that. I grew up Pentecostal," she said. "My mom was superintendent of children's ministries for the Assemblies of God, my dad is a worship leader. And now everyone knows! I've said it all along but people just started listening."
Adrienne is also supported in her faith on the set of "The Real" where her co-hosts are also believers. In a previous interview with The Christian Post, she revealed how she has been able to bond with her co-hosts through prayer.
"I love that all five of us are believers," she said. "Before we walk out on that set every single day, we pray. I don't know what anybody else's rituals are on other shows, but I said there's something so special and so crazy about that. We pray that God uses us individually to touch somebody, to make somebody laugh, to make somebody say, 'Oh my God, I'm not alone!'"
