After 8 Years of Fighting to Protect Traditional Marriage, I Predict Gay Marriage Will Become a 'Constitutional Right'

For over eight years I have been involved in the battle to protect natural, biblical marriage. Soon, the most consequential ruling in the Supreme Court's 226-year history will be revealed. If they decide, as I expect, that gay marriage is a "constitutional right", then it becomes federal law and we cannot "discriminate" against any gay couple or gay person.

SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) would impose same-sex marriage and anti-discrimination restrictions on every person and state in America. This redefines marriage, opening the door for polygamy, polyamory and polyandry. Curriculum in schools will change to align with this position.

End of the matter? Actually this represents only the beginning of an avalanche of court cases related to this issue. Leaders and people in churches, schools, ministries and universities will face the revoking of tax-exempt status, penalties and jail time if they don't comply.

If homosexual marriage is the law of the land, a national leader predicts that 50% of people will leave churches within three years as they fear identification with groups standing true will jeopardize their jobs; depart for liberal churches to retain charitable deductions; and, drop out of church attendance from disillusionment and fatigue.

Some see this as a good thing because the pruning will bring forth a truly radical, authentic and pure church. Here God can move in power with the signs and wonders for which we all long.

The Truth is Coming Out

Enthusiastically supporting gay marriage, the Obama administration's attorney, Donald Verrilli, was asked by Justice Alito in the recent hearing if this case was similar to Bob Jones University once losing their tax-exempt status for discrimination against interracial couples. He said, "I don't deny that – it is going to be an issue."

Even though the LGBTQ movement does not want to tip their hand and emphasize their goal of silencing dissent from people of faith, the cat was finally out of the bag! In other words, your church, ministry, school, campus ministry, college, wedding-related business, the Salvation Army, Samaritan's Purse, Catholic Charities, World Vision and scores of other faith-centered organizations are on a religious liberty collision course.

Dr. James Dobson, icon of the Christian family movement, has released a letter to hundreds of thousands of followers that this would represent the end of Western civilization as we know it. Biblical marriage that predated civil government in our Western civilization would be obliterated overnight.

A little more than 20 years ago there was no such thing as same-sex marriage in the world. A little more than 12 years ago there was no such thing as same-sex marriage in America.

A small minority representing about 2% of the population - with only 1% actually wanting to marry - has been so well organized and funded as to achieve the unthinkable in our lifetime.

Hillary Clinton, presidential candidate, spoke recently at the "Women in the World Summit" telling them that "deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed." She then addressed unfettered abortion ("reproductive health care") but by extension also same-sex marriage which she now has evolved to support.

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo said on national TV, "Our rights do not come from God...they come from man!" If that be true, then our Declaration of Independence was wrong and our Constitution is elastic as are other long-standing traditional tenets undergirding our nation since it's inception.

The day after the Supreme Court met, USA TODAY in their editorial stated their support for same-sex marriage. Their position was based on the core principle of "personal freedom."

Courageous Leader Emerges

Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, told multitudes in a national prayer conference call that all of us must emulate the example of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abendego, Esther, Moses' mom, the early apostles and other champions of the Christian faith like Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Dr. Martin Luther King in upholding natural marriage and opposing every attempt to undermine it. This can mean peaceful, civil disobedience.

Over 76,000 leaders and citizens have signed his "Solidarity Pledge" (myself included) vowing not to compromise on this centerpiece of God's creation. I encourage all to read the pledge and affix their signatures. (http://www.defendmarriage.org)

The Southern Baptist Convention, the U.S.'s largest Protestant denomination, is preparing a video series and booklets on marriage and how to address homosexuality. Years ago I did just that and posted on my website materials and a documentary entitled, "Is Gay Okay? 10 Things Every Christian Needs to Know."(Larrytomczak.com). The leader of the mega church where I was based told me it would be a "deal breaker" if I proceeded with it. I did and that ultimately sealed my fate!

Christians and people of faith should take advantage of resources like these to awaken with this coming tsunami. Courageous citizens must do all we can even though the clock will soon strike midnight. It is not too late to pray and engage people everywhere with the truth, as we believe for God's miraculous intervention.

Our Wake-up Call?

If the above scenario comes to pass (my gut feeling is that it will though I pray I am wrong), the fault lies primarily with the church. Leaders who have been apathetic and submitting to the fear of man and idolatry instead of preparing the people to pray and skillfully address these issues must repent and immediately get in the game. It is not too late!

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said there comes a time when silence is betrayal. "When we see the truth and cease to speak it is the day we begin to die."

Dietrich Bonhoeffer said that "Silence in the face of evil, is evil itself. Not to speak, is to speak. Not to act, is to act."

While every one of us must purpose in our heart to please God and reach out to everyone in love, we must be resolute in resisting the LGBTQ agenda that, along with abortion on demand, will destroy the United States of America.

Frenchman Alex DeTocqueville came to America in the early 1800s to discover the greatness of the burgeoning nation. He later wrote his findings in his classic book "Democracy in America."

After his thorough exploration he said that the secret of America's success was not in its goldmines, prairies or harbors. Instead he observed the greatness and success of America was found in the churches where the pulpits were aflame with righteousness. "America is great, because America is good. If America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great."

Reformer Martin Luther said, "Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is tested."

America is rapidly ceasing to be good. Gay marriage, along with unfettered abortion, is our generational, battlefield issues requiring soldiers to come forth. While I pray daily for godly leadership in our land, we won't ultimately triumph unless "salt" and "light" Christians respond.

I stated our challenge in a previous commentary where I echoed, "this is our Bonhoeffer moment." Facing Hitler's totalitarian government, he refused to compromise and became part of Christendom's Martyr's Circle.

Are you counting the cost, praying and preparing for what might be the turning point in our history? We are only weeks away from my predicted outcome - I sincerely hope and pray I'm proven wrong. In the meantime, onward Christian soldiers, may God extend mercy and bring deliverance for which we long!
