'Agent Carter' Season 2 News, Update: Lyndsy Fonseca's Return Confirmed

The excitement for the premiere of the second season of ABC and Marvel's hit action-adventure drama TV series, "Agent Carter," is ramping up with the release of promo materials.

Over the course of a few months, fans were teased with a handful of promo materials including a full-length trailer, TV spots and posters, just to name a few. As if that wasn't enough, new reports emerged over the weekend confirming the arrival of a Season 1 fan-favorite character.

A report from Entertainment Weekly indicated that Lyndsy Fonseca of "How I Met Your Mother" will be reprising her role as Angie Martinelli, Peggy's (Hayley Atwell) friend from New York City.

Citing executive producer Michele Fazekas, the report however clarified that Angie's return won't be what many expect. According to the EP, the aforementioned character will appear in Episode 9 through a dream sequence. This will take place after a cliffhanger in Episode 8 where Peggy and her trusted companion, Jarvis (James D'Arcy), find themselves in big trouble and are rendered unconscious.

"Episode 9 begins with a dream sequence that starts in black and white — by the way, [Atwell] was made for black and white. She looks like Rita Hayworth. She looks spectacular," the EP previews to EW.

Fazekas added that after the bleak scene, viewers will be treated with a display of a "full-on Broadway musical dance number" which will showcase an original score from lyricist David Zippel and composer Christopher Lennertz and features choreography from "Dancing with the Stars'" Louis van Amstel. The whole production will feature the pros from DWTS including Dmitry Chaplin, Karina Smirnoff, Anna Trebunskaya, Sasha Farber and Damian Whitewood, just to name a few.

So how does Angie fit into the said dream sequence? Fazekas said that her role will be like that of Jiminy Cricket's role, who speaks about conscience and "the things that Peggy maybe can't say to herself."

"It ties things back together from the first season and it's connecting all of these things in a way that only a dream can do," the EP explained to EW.

"Agent Carter" Season 2 premieres Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016 on ABC.
