'Agent Carter' season 2 plot news: Peggy Carter faces off Dottie Underwood

News about the upcoming season of "Agent Carter" reveals that the show's lead will experience a clash with an assassin.

It was reported that the second season of Agent Carter has started production. With that, it was revealed that the plot of the upcoming season will show the return of Dottie Underwood. She will be in conflict with Peggy Carter, played by Hayley Atwell.

Dottie Underwood is played by Bridget Regan. Her character is a product of the Red Room academy, which means that she is a trained Soviet Assassin. Atwell shared details about the character Dottie. She said, "Oh, she's a slippery b-tch. We haven't seen the last of her. Peggy has male baddies that she fights, but to have someone who is physically her equal -- she's a Black Widow, incredibly capable and very smart -- I think that shows some balance for Peggy, like a flip side of the same coin. You'll see more of her in season 2."

The synopsis for season 2 of Agent Carter was recently released by ABC. It stated that the season will experience more adventure and intrigue as Carter deals with the new atomic age threats of World War II. She will have to travel to Los Angeles from New York City, where she will discover new friends in her new home. Her move to Los Angeles will have her experiencing the darker side of the city, as opposed to the glamorous Hollywood vibe.

There were also hints that she will have a new love interest. Atwell also shared her sentiments about her potential love affair in the season to come, now that she is not mourning the loss of Steve Rogers. She said, "I think people can move on. It's part of the human nature to, once you have processed something very painful like loss, that there is hope to not replace that person, but to certainly make way for a new opportunity in life that gives you greater contentment and companionship. That's what we're exploring for the second season."

Agent Carter season 2 is expected to premiere this December.
