'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 5 Spoilers: First Arc to Dwell on Squad's Outer Space Adventure
Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team's adventure in space will be the focus of the first arc in the upcoming season of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
According to Cinema Blend, the new installment will feature another set of multiple arcs, just like in season 4 where two big storylines where shown. Viewers can remember that the first half dwelled on the Ghost Rider's revenge while the second featured the Life-Model Decoy AIDA and her Framework.
Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb said that these arcs give them the chance to explore more. Speculations indicate that, as teased, the new plot will focus on the squad's space mission first before introducing another interesting premise.
"It gave an opportunity to the writers to tell a complete chapter so that as the audience... It came out of necessity of the fact that ABC runs the shows and then needs to take breaks to have specials and things like that and you go into the holidays or the Olympics or something like that. So rather than waiting and having the audience have to play catch up because we're not on for three or four or sometimes seven weeks, they said, 'OK let's try to do this in bites.' And so this first bite is the first 10 episodes of this season," Loeb said.
Before season 4 ended, Coulson was shown standing on the deck of a ship, watching a sea of space rocks. He will not be the only one to leave Earth, however. It has been teased that the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D. will come with him to take on a new adventure.
Meanwhile, spoilers indicate that the team will handle a barrage of Inhuman problems when they return to the planet. It was revealed that the series has been looking for an actor who will play the role of Sals-Bek, an Inhuman killer who once hunted the Royal Family of Attilan in the comics. Rumors are also rife that a crossover with the other ABC show, "Inhuman," is going to happen soon.
Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 5 two-hour premiere will air Friday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
