Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG 'All-Star' News: Nike Celebrates NBA All-Star Weekend With New Kicks
Just in time for the celebration of professional basketball, Nike's Jordan brand joins the party by releasing one of its highly anticipated kicks dubbed as the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG "All-Star."
According to a report by GQ, the newest kick from Nike is inspired by Michael Jordan's success at the National Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship back in 1982 that, coincidentally, occurred in New Orleans, Louisiana as well – right where the National Basketball Association's 2017 All-Star Games took place last week.
The said game is one of Jordan's crowning moments and probably hinted that he was about to do great things in the field of professional basketball. He was playing for the University of North Carolina at the time when he fired an epic winning shot that snatched the championship title for his team.

GQ reports that the inspiration is reflected all over the new kicks. The shade of blue found in the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG 'All-Star' is obviously a nod to Jordan's UNC uniform. This color is contrasted and balanced with the strokes of black and white to complete the overall look of the sneakers.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG "All-Star" was released in the morning of Feb. 19 with the price tag of $175 a pair. Unfortunately, however, Nike's official website indicates that this model has already sold out as of writing.
The release of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG "All-Star" is actually just one of the three "All-Star"-inspired sneakers from Nike's Jordan brand. On Feb. 16, Nike launched the Air Jordan XXXI for $200 while the Air Jordan VI All-Star was released a day after and costs $225.
Nike actually put up a pop-up shop dedicated to showcase and sell the Jordan brand shoes from Nike right at one of the most famous streets in New Orleans' French Quarter. It was open for three days in time for the NBA All-Star weekend.
