Alcatel Announces Affordable OneTouch Smartwatch

Alcatel announced the release of budget-friendly OneTouch Smartwatch.

Alcatel described the product as "A smartwatch that puts a premium on elegant design at a very accessible price" in a press release. The OneTouch will reportedly cost "a fraction" of the price of its competitors.

Reports say that the Alcatel OneTouch Smartwatch's price will be under the $299 price tag of Moto 360 watch. It will most probably also be cheaper than Apple's $349 watch. As of this time, the rumored prices have not been confirmed by Alcatel.

The watch will monitor daily activities, connect to Android, manage music files, receive notifications and capture photos. As for the specs, Alcatel did not provide any information but the photos showed a rounded wearable device.

Based on the released images, the watch does not run on Android but is only Android compatible. There is no news about OneTouch's compatibility with iOS.

Alcatel has also announced that Onetouch Smartwatch is in partnership with The Color Run 2015 Shine Tour in North America. The event will allow runners to share their photos via social media using the smartwatch.

Aside from the smartwatch, Alcatel also revealed its new line of Pixi smartphones. The Pixi 3 range will reportedly support 4G LTE and will be compatible with Firefox, Android and Windows Phone operating systems.

The new smartphone comes in four sizes, which are 3.5 inches, 4 inches, 4.5 inches and 5 inches. The Alcatel handsets will be pre loaded with popular applications and will be easy to customize.

The specifications and prices are not yet revealed. Alcatel is known to provide affordable handsets so the Pixi phones will most probably be cheaper than Samsung or Apple devices.

Alcatel will reveal more information about the OneTouch Smartwatch and Pixi smartphones at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Jan. 6-9, 2015.
