Alcatel introduces supersized tablet OneTouch Xess at IFA 2015, comes with built-in stand
Devices nowadays are going for bigger sizes and Alcatel gets that. Just recently, the Chinese company launched at the IFA Berlin trade show their massive 17.3-inch tablet called Alcatel OneTouch Xess. According to Digital Trends, the tablet "supports multi-touch with up to ten points of interaction" and sports a full HD display, making the mega-sized tablet a great tool for watching movies or TV shows. It's pretty much like a portable TV rather than a tablet.
Aside from the full screen size fit for entertainment, its speakers worked wonders as well as it produced sound despite the noise in the show floor of IFA. The tablet is equipped with two JBL speakers, each having a 3-watt output on the back.
Another distinct feature of Xess is its built-in stand and handle that can angle the screen at 75, 50, or 30 degree so that the user will no longer have to hold the tablet or can simply prop it on the table to view videos or websites. It also comes with a built-in stylus that will be very useful for annotations and drawings, reports Phone Arena.
Alcatel conceptualized Xess to be a portable one. However, due to its heavy weight and big size, it's unlikely that someone will be bringing it along wherever. But it is really useful at home or in the office. It can used while cooking in the kitchen or gardening or perhaps while taking a bubble bath. Other interesting features inside the tablet are the Sketchbook and the hands-free gesture controls that will let users simply wave to control the screen
The downside of the massive tablet is its performance level which can be a little sluggish. But since it is still in development, tweaks and enhancements to it will surely be made. Specs include also a MediaTek MT8783T chipset, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. It also carries a 10,000mAh battery and runs with Android 5.1 Lollipop.
No pricing or availability details of the tablet are out yet.
