Alec Baldwin Engaged to Hilaria Thomas

Alec Baldwin is engaged to his girlfriend Hilaria Thomas. His representative confirmed the good news to multiple news sources and said the couple is very happy.

"Yes, it's true," he told Us Weekly. "Alec proposed to Hilaria this weekend, and we're all excited for the newly engaged couple. Alec's birthday is tomorrow. Great way to celebrate," Baldwin's rep said.

Baldwin and Thomas have been dating for one year. Thomas is an instructor at the YogaVida yoga studio in Union Square, New York. CBS reported that Baldwin gave up his apartment in the city's Upper West Side and moved in with Thomas in November.

He was previously married to actress Kim Basinger, whom he met while filming "The Marrying Man" in 1990. They wed three years later and have one daughter, Ireland. The couple filed for divorce in 2001, but it was not finalized until 2002.

Baldwin has remained a part of Ireland's life, even fighting for custody of her with Basinger. During one particularly heated exchange, Baldwin left a voicemail for his daughter, calling her a "rude, thoughtless little pig." He publicly apologized and later admitted that the message had nearly ruined his life.

In an interview with Playboy magazine, Baldwin revealed he had considered suicide during the fall-out from the voicemail.

"I spoke to a lot of professionals who helped me. If I committed suicide, [Basinger's side] would have considered that a victory. Destroying me was their avowed goal," he said in 2009.

Baldwin is currently at work on NBC's smash series "30 Rock," which has just entered its sixth season. He has won several awards for his portrayal of General Electric (GE) Chairman Jack Donaghy, playing opposite Tina Fey's Liz Lemon.

In 2011, it was reported that Baldwin was considering running for mayor of New York City in the 2013 race. However, he later publicly announced that he had had a change of mind and would resume his work on "30 Rock."

"I've got a good job," he said in his weekly WNYC podcast. "Am I doing 'To Kill a Mockingbird'? No. I'm doing a sitcom. But we have fun, and it's a family," Baldwin said.
