Alexa Ray Joel Gig Landed in NYC, Daughter of Billy Joel Takes the Small Stage
Alexa Ray Joel, the daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, is following in her father's musical footsteps with a residency in New York City.
The 28-year-old singer landed a gig in the lounge at the Hotel Carlyle on Manhattan's Upper East Side that will begin in April, according to the Café Carlyle via the Associated Press. It is the same gig that Elaine Stritch and Bobby Short performed. Prices range from $50-100.
"Guys & Dolls… Please join me for a wondrously-whimsical & intrinsically-intimate performance- showcase at 'Café Carlyle' in The Big Apple on April 1st 12th," Joel posted to her Instagram account along with a promotional photo. "Call OR visit their website to get your ticket today!!!"

Advertising "Classically entertaining cabaret- authentically elegant New York," Café Carlyle is also promoting performances by Shirley Jones and John Pizzarelli in the weeks leading to Joel's gig.
Ray released the six-song EP "Sketches" in 2006 which contains songs she described as "raw," according to Reuters. One song found on the self-released album was a cover of Neil Young's "Don't Let It Bring You Down." She has also released a single entitled "Notice Me." In 2011, the singer landed a residency at the Oak Room at New York's Plaza Hotel.
Alexa was the first child for Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, who divorced after nine years of marriage in 1994. The younger Joel has two half-siblings, Sailor and Jack, both children of her mother.
While Alexa Ray seizes the small stage, her six-time Grammy Award-winning father continues to sell out Madison Square Garden. Now 64-years-old, Billy Joel is best known for his hit songs such as "Piano Man," "New York State of Mine," "Movin' Out," and "She's Always a Woman," among many others.
