Ali Landry: From Doritos to the Big Screen

Many may know Ali Landry simply as "the Dorito's girl," but she has come a long way since that commercial debuted in 1998. Now she is a happily married mother of two who is seeking to do God's will in her life, both personally and professionally.

The Christian Post spoke with Landry about her life and the recent release of her new movie "Me Again," in which she plays the wife of a minister seeking to change everything about his life.

When asked about her personal relationship with God, Landry stated, "I was in a relationship where he cheated on me and caused me to reevaluate everything in my life. That's when, I always had a relationship with God, but I felt like I was walking around with blinders on and doing what everyone else wanted me to do."

She added, "I wasn't walking the walk. I felt like the rug was pulled out from under me; I was afraid to make decisions on my own since I had made a mistake with that person. I prayed. I asked Jesus to help me put one foot in front of the other and prayed for Him to show me what He wanted me to do. I told Jesus, 'I need your help.' That's when it all started for me."

"I prayed for my husband and met him during a Bible study. Then I was in 'Bella,' which was the first project I was in that I felt changed lives and affected people. For me to be a part of that was an incredible feeling. It really changed all of us who worked on it forever. It's changed the projects and business I am now in."

"Me Again" has just been released on DVD and Blu-Ray and features a cast including David A.R. White, Della Reese, and Bruce McGill. Landry explained that she did the movie because it was "a family film addressing serious topics. It wasn't like I've wanted to be someone else or wasn't appreciative of what I had. With God all things are possible -- you just have to ask. In my time of grief I felt the most peace because I was seeking the Lord."

Landry has just started a new project with friend and fellow actress Alison Sweeney. The two regularly get together with other actresses including Candace Cameron Burke and Denise Richards for meals and support. Landry and Sweeney have taken that to a public level and are producing a new show for the TV Guide Network. She described it as "women supporting other women and having open, honest conversations."

"In the beginning, when I took that stand of being aware of projects I wanted to be a part of and set limitations, I felt like I was swimming against the current. But I always felt strength being in that place. I knew it was what I needed to do. It's incredible that the doors have opened as they have; I never imagined doing what I do now. I know this is what I am meant to do. I am so happy and content."

"Hollywood Girls' Night" premieres in March on the TV Guide channel.
