'Alias Grace' News: Renewed or Canceled for Season 2?

Directed by Mary Harron and starring Sarah Gadon, "Alias Grace" came to life on television from the pages of a 1996 level written by Margaret Atwood, who is famously behind the success of "The Handmaid's Tale." Marketed as a miniseries by Netflix, "Alias Grace" recently concluded its first season. As such, fans have turned to the next big question: will it be renewed or canceled?

The ending of "Alias Grace" has been definitive. It featured Gadon's character Grace Marks, who was convicted of murder. At the end of season 1, Grace was shown to be pardoned and moved on to live in New York. Considering that there may not be many ways to continue with the plot, some fans believe that this might be the end of "Alias Grace."

International Business Times especially mentioned that Netflix is promoting it is a miniseries, which inherently suggests that it might not be returning for a second season. Furthermore, considering that the first season was based on true to life events, another season would mean that the plot of "Alias Grace" will be moving on to a fictional territory.

Meanwhile, The Guardian believes that "Alias Grace" is relevant in terms of the current political climate. As such, memories of the first season's episodes might call to mind some daily experiences that women go through on a daily basis. For this reason alone, "Alias Grace" might be worth a second season. Regardless, the series has been lauded to be one of the most engaging and controversial murder mystery to grace Netflix's streaming service.

"Alias Grace" was first released on Sept. 15. It is based on real-life nineteenth-century events, which focus on the allegations, conviction, and pardon of Grace Marks, who is a poor Irish immigrant and domestic servant. "Alias" Grace" is currently available for streaming on Netflix. As to whether or not it might be renewed, fans will have to wait and see.
