'Alice Through The Looking Glass' Cast Rumors: Movie Posters Unveiled at D23 Expo
It's time for a little madness as a sequel of "Alice in Wonderland" is coming. During Walt Disney Studios' D23 weekend, fans got to take a first look of "Alice Through the Looking Glass." The first posters were revealed featuring Johnny Depp, who played the Mad Hatter in the first movie and Mia Wasikowska as Alice.
The posters were also revealed through Walt Disney Studios Twitter account confirming that the sequel to Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" (2010) would hit theaters on May 27, 2016. Hollywood Life noted that the sequel film may be more whimsical than the first one based on the posters which show Alice and the Mad Hatter standing at the end of a pathway of clock that bob up unevenly out of the water like rocks.
At the bottom, a tagline reads, "It's time for a little madness."
"Alice Through the Looking Glass" will be based on a Lewis Carroll children's book, "Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There," in which young Alice once again find herself wandering into a strange alternate world. The sequel will also show Alice traveling back in time to save the Mad Hatter, who is said to be literally growing darker, appearing nearly black and white, according to IGN.
Other stars who will join the cast for the sequel are Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter who will reprise their roles as the White Queen and the Red Queen, respectively. Voice cast members include Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall.New characters include Zanik Hightopp (Rhys Ifans), the Mad Hatter's father, and Time himself (Sacha Baron Cohen), a bizarre creature who is part human, part clock.
Mia Wasikowska was present during the expo to promote her upcoming movie, as well as Johnny Depp who surprised the fans with his appearance.
