Alicia Keys' 'New Day' Released, New Single From First Album in 3 Years (AUDIO)
Alicia Keys released her new single "New Day" on Thursday, the debut single from what will be her first studio album in three years.
"A New Day" is just one of the songs off of Keys' currently untitled fifth studio album, the first since her hit 2009 album "The Element of Freedom," and reportedly showcases the new chapter in her life, according to theboombox.com.
"I've come to this place that the album is about to be ready and I feel just so crazy excited. It's like I'm a different person. I'm a new person. Everything is new, from being married and having a baby," Keys said in a personal video to her her fans which was posted on YouTube.com.
Keys, who has been busy working on her upcoming fifth album over the past eight months, released the uptempo track on Twitter.
"Here's that first taste of what I was talking about... It's a #AKNewDay!!! Let's fly!" Keys wrote via Twitter.
The R&B style song received close to 20,000 plays within it's first hour of release and includes lyrics about starting a new day.
"World is gettin ready ay! For a new day, for a new day. Celebrate and say ay ay ay!" Keys sings.
The 31-year-old took a short break from the spotlight after giving birth to her first child Egypt Daoud Ibarr Dean, whom she conceived with her husband Swizz Beatz on Oct. 14, 2010 and she is now eager to return to the music scene.
"I've become so much more intelligent and I survey the landscape more and try to come up with what's the best thing for me, what's the best thing for Egypt, what's the best thing for our family," Keys said.
"I am hungry, I am an animal right now. I am just ready to be set free in a whole other way. When it comes to sharing this music with you, I am like a caged animal that's dying to escape," she added.
