'Alien: Covenant' Release Date, News: Talks of a Sequel Are Already Underway

What initially started as space colonization has turned out to be a one-sided slaughter, putting those who only wished to explore other realms in mortal danger. This is exactly what's happening to Ridley Scott's latest film, "Alien: Covenant."

Despite the fact that the movie has not officially even released yet, there are already plans to create a sequel. In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Scott explained that he plans to quickly follow up with another installment and not have fans waiting too long.

"You've got to assume, to a certain extent, success [for Alien: Covenant], and from that you'd better be ready," Scott said. "You don't want a two-year gap. So I'll be ready to go again next year."

From what he's saying, not only is he getting ready, but he is rather optimistic about the current unreleased film. If anything, he has every reason to be, as the teaser for the movie has quickly amassed over 11 million hits on YouTube.

In the film's latest trailer, the group is seen celebrating as they arrive on a planet that could possibly support human life as they wander through the unfamiliar terrain without oxygen helmets on. What was puzzling for them, however, was how human vegetation grew on a place so far out from Earth, only to find out they were not the first ones to dock on the planet.

Things quickly turn from bad to worse as they discover an abandoned space ship with no signs of human life; instead, what they saw were receptacles of what they eventually found out to be where Xenomorphs spring out. It was too late for them to turn back as in just a few moments the place is already crawling with bloodthirsty aliens, putting them all in a sticky situation.

If anything, the latest installment is going to be the goriest yet. "Alien: Covenant" arrives in theaters on May 19, 2017.
