ALL You Need to Know to Live Stress-Free
It seems many people are stressed-out, worn-out, overwhelmed and weary because of the demands of life. But in Christ, it's possible to live in God's rest and find relief from the burden of stress and worry.
Jesus shows us how in Matthew 11:28-29 (AMP): "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle…and humble…and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls."
Are You Getting Enough Rest?
The rest Jesus is talking about in Matthew 11 is not a rest from work; it's an inner rest-for your mind, will and emotions-that you can have while you're doing what you need to do every day. The first step is to come to Him and humble yourself before Him. The next thing you need to do is take His yoke upon you. This means that whatever you have to do in life, you ask God to help you and give you His strength. Then together, you and God can handle anything that comes along.
There are unpleasant things that come into our lives and when they do, God wants us to immediately put our trust in Him and look to Him for wisdom and strength. I often pray, "Lord, please help me." And I remember John 15:5, which says apart from Jesus, we can do nothing, but with Him, we can do whatever we need to do.
So whether you're weary from the daily demands of life or you're facing a difficult situation you need to deal with, the best thing you can do is give it all to God and get His rest.
The Three-letter Word That Changes Everything
In Mark 10:27 (AMP), Jesus says, "All things are possible with God." Notice the word "all" in this verse. What does all mean? It means nothing is left out; there's nothing outside of all. There's no end to all-it takes us into infinity. All encompasses everything and excludes nothing. ALL means ALL!
We need to pay attention to the "alls" in the Bible.
• Psalm 103:2-3 says, "Forget not [one of] all His benefits-Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases" (AMP).
• God is the Lord Almighty (Psalm 91:1).
• Jesus has all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18).
• In Christ, we have authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19).
• God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think, according to His power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20).
• God supplies all our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
• We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).
• All of the fullness of God dwells in Christ, and through His blood, all things are reconciled to God (Colossians 1:19-20).
We hear these scriptures and frequently say things like "Jesus is Lord of all. He has all power and He forgives all our sins." Yet somehow, we stop short of believing what all means. We worry, feel stressed-out and overwhelmed, and try to figure out how to solve all of our problems.
We need to get a revelation about how Almighty, all-powerful and all-encompassing God really is so we can live in His rest!
There's Nothing Outside of God's Control
Make a determined decision to believe God and His Word more than anything else. God knows all things. He knew all about you before He ever invited you to have a personal relationship with Him-every thought you would ever have, every word you would ever speak, every sin you would ever commit, everything you would ever do. And He already had a plan to love you into wholeness and help you solve your problems before they ever happened.
God wants to help you and give you His peace, strength, joy and wisdom to live your life every day. Trust Him at all times: when you don't understand, when things don't make sense, when you're hurting so badly you don't think you can stand it another minute, and when life seems unfair. He is all you need, and all things are possible with Him!
Take Jesus' yoke upon you today. Tell Him, "God, I trust You. I know that You love me. I don't always know or understand what You're going to do or how You're going do it, but I'm not going to worry about it." That's all you need to know to live a stress-free life.
