Amanda Bynes Accident: Car Crash is Third Since May for Actress

LAPD Investigation Could Lead to Hit-And-Run Charge

Amanda Bynes' accident was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department after it was reported that the accident engaged in a car crash and left without providing her information. The incident is the third of its kind for the star this year.

Amanda Bynes was in an accident Aug. 4, according to reports, and the low-speed incident ended with her rear-ending another driver on Ventura Boulevard in L.A. The 26-year-old stopped, but concluded there was no damage to the unnamed victim's car and sped off. Her lack of insurance information provided- a precedent that is law in the city- went unheeded, leading to the investigation.

Furthermore, the woman claimed there had been damages to her Toyota because of the incident. Bynes failed to notify authorities, Lt. Andrew Neiman of the LAPD told The Los Angeles Times.

After the woman's complaint, investigators determined that there had been around $800 in damage to the car because of the collision. Detectives assigned to the matter will give their evidence to the L.A. County district attorney's office, who will decide to press charges or not. The possibilities are currently unknown, but the actress could be considered a hit-and-run driver.

This is the third such incident since April of this year, when Bynes crashed into another car and ran a red light in her hurry to flee the scene. Police were able to track Bynes' vehicle and later arrested her for driving under the influence. When she was formally charged with DUI, she then tweeted President Obama for help.

"I don't drink," wrote Bynes on her Twitter account, directed toward Obama's presidential campaign. "Please fire the cop who arrested me."

Bynes' father, Rick Bynes, also contended that the 26-year-old was sober after revealing that the actress does not drink, according to People magazine.

"She was upset and emotional," explained Bynes of his daughter's driving incident.

Bynes was also involved in two separate hit and run incidents on May 5 and May 27. It is not known whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in those accidents but her behavior led to questions of Bynes' health.
