Amanda Bynes 'Doing A Lot Better' Following Mental Health Concerns
Amanda Bynes is said to be doing "better" after displaying bizarre behavior for several months, with friends and family now optimistic about her future.
The troubled actress, 27, recently sparked concerns for her mental health after she abruptly moved from Los Angeles to New York and admittedly cut off her parents. Bynes has been photographed frequently wandering around aimlessly in Manhattan for several weeks and in recent days she shaved her head, which prompted speculation of a possible mental breakdown.
"Amanda's been doing a lot better lately. She's always been a sweet, down to Earth girl, but just lost herself for a while. She's slowly coming back to us," a source told RadarOnline.com.
On May 9 the former Nickelodeon star was sentenced to three years probation and slapped with a $300 fine as part of a plea bargain relating to charges of driving on a suspended license. The legal drama appears to have served as a wake up call for Bynes.
"I see more of the old Amanda in her. She's not acting quite so odd," the source said. "She seems to have a better grasp on herself lately and we all hope it sticks."
The plea deal comes more than six months after Bynes was charged by Los Angeles police. In addition to driving without a valid license she was also arrested and charged with a DUI and accused of a hit-and-run at least twice all on separate occasions.
Although Bynes previously admitted to cutting ties with her concerned parents, Lynn and Rick, she recently reached out to them and they are now said to be on good terms. They are reportedly planning a trip from L.A. to New York to check up on their daughter and to ensure her health and well being.
"Amanda's parents are ecstatic that they were able to reconnect with her last week and they're hoping it will last," a source told RadarOnline.com.
"A visit is planned, but they've purposely not told Amanda exactly when it will be because they want to catch her off guard and see how she's living her day-to-day life in New York," the source added.
