Amanda Bynes Friend Talks Actress' Strange Behavior, Real Reason Behind Wigs
A former friend of Amanda Bynes recently opened up about the troubled actress' increasingly strange behavior, following reports confirming that she was hospitalized on Monday.
A woman identified as Ana Rivera, 22, claims to have befriended Bynes, 27, in 2012 and at one point the pair reportedly shared an apartment. Bynes' behavior was allegedly just as bizarre then as it is now and Rivera urged the former Nickelodeon star to seek help.
"She opened up, and it was obvious she had problems. It was immediately obvious she didn't have any friends," Rivera told the media agency Coleman-Rayner according to the New York Daily News.
Bynes abruptly moved to New York City from her native of California in 2012 during the same time that concerns for her mental health began to increase.
"When I asked if she'd met a lot of people since she moved to New York, she said only me and another woman in her building," she said.
"She has a hard time talking to people because she's so weird. She's all over the place. There's a lot of disorganization going on in her brain," she continued. "She's literally only hanging out with her dog. Amanda desperately needs help."
For months the former child star has displayed unusual behavior both in private and in public and some fans are particularly fixated on her bright colored wigs. Bynes reportedly had a hair bleaching accident shortly before she began constantly wearing her now infamous blonde hairpiece.
"I asked what happened, and she said that her hair fell out as she had left the bleach on too long and it had burnt her hair off," Rivera recalled.
On April 12, Bynes claimed she was previously forced to shave her entire head after supposedly having her hair damaged at a New York City hair salon.
"I had to shave my head because of hair damage from someone @ John Barrett so I'm not loving my paparazzi pics for a few years! I have extensions but you can see them!" Bynes previously tweeted.
In addition to the bleach incident Bynes would reportedly often speak to herself which Rivera deemed to be odd.
"Everything she said out loud, she thought she was saying in her head. She never even apologized, she just carried on," she explained.
On Monday the troubled star was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold after allegedly lighting a fire outside of an elderly woman's home. Medical professionals reportedly believe Bynes is displaying signs of schizophrenia and subsequently her parents, Lynn and Rick, are reportedly seeking a two-week extension on the hold although legally she can only be held for 72-hours according to TMZ.com.
