Amanda Bynes Mom Granted Temporary Conservatorship; 30-Day Forced Psychiatric Hold Extended
Amanda Bynes has reportedly been placed on an extended 30-day psychiatric hold following a request made by doctors, and the troubled actress' Mom has been granted a temporary conservatorship over her personal and financial matters.
On Friday, a Ventura County judge granted requests for the extended hold and temporary conservatorship two weeks after Bynes, 27, was admitted to the Hillmont Psychiatric Center in Ventura County. Doctors reportedly suspect that the former Nickelodeon star may be suffering from a mental illness and she is expected to undergo medical testing over the next month to determine what exactly is the cause of her increasingly bizarre behavior, according to TMZ.com.
On July 22, Bynes, whose increasingly strange behavior has raised concerns about her mental health in recent months, was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold after allegedly lighting a fire outside of an elderly woman's home. She has reportedly been on medication since her admission, but there has not yet been any steady improvements.

"(There have been) no real changes in the situation yet. Meds take more than a week," a source previously told the New York Daily News.
The conservatorship gives Bynes' Mom, Lynn, full control of her personal and financial matters until Sept. 30. After this time, the judge is expected to hold a formal hearing to determine whether the conservatorship should become permanent, TMZ reported.
The judge revealed that he would like to have face-to-face time with the troubled actress in order to gain a firsthand evaluation of her current condition. Bynes reportedly objected to the conservatorship according to her lawyer, but a source insists that her Mom simply wants her to get better.
"The goal is to get her treatment, either through the courts or some other way. That's the only goal," the source said.. "Her mom has seen her (in the hospital). They're still talking."
