Amanda Bynes Not 'Crazy,' Says Critics Are 'Lying'
Amanda Bynes recently opened up about her mental health following reports claiming that she is unwell, and the actress insists that she is not crazy.
The former Nickelodeon star has displayed a series of erratic behavior in recent months and has been hit with legal woes stemming from previous driving mishaps. While fans fear that Bynes may be on a downward spiral, the 27-year-old actress claims she is perfectly fine.
"I have no clue [why people say I'm insane]. Every time I've heard it, it came from an ugly person's mouth, so I don't care," Bynes told In Touch magazine.
"The only ones lying about me having a mental illness are people I don't talk to," she continued, adding that "I only have hot friends. They have my back until I die."
In recent months, Bynes has frequently had a series of drastic makeovers which include a cheek piercing and wigs. On April 25 she randomly shaved half of her head and she has shared various semi-nude photographs with her 870,000 Twitter followers.
In addition to sexually explicit and offensive tweets, some of which have targeted other celebrities like Jay-Z, the troubled actress has been photographed acting strangely during random solo outings in New York City. At one point she was seen publicly smoking an unknown substance and reportedly talking to herself.
Bynes denied that she has addiction problems following speculation of possible marijuana use.
"I don't drink. I'm allergic to alcohol," she said.
The parents of Bynes, Lynn and Rick, are said to be extremely concerned about their daughter. They have reportedly urged her to move back to her native of California.
"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at Amanda and surmise that she is having some sort of crisis. Her makeover is just one example of her troubling behavior. Her parents just wish the media would leave Amanda alone, because it's only making the situation worse. Amanda is lost and she refuses to get help," a source reportedly told RadarOnline.com.
"Her parents are powerless to do anything because she is 27 years of age and there is very little they can do, under the law," the source added.
