Amanda Bynes Pleads Not Guilty, Jennie Garth 'Reached Out'

Just after Amanda Bynes pleaded not guilty to driving on a suspended license, her former co-star and friend Jennie Garth admitted to having "reached out" to help the actress.

Bynes and Garth portrayed sisters on WB's sitcom "What I Like About You" from 2002 to 2006. It was then that the pair became close, and after hearing of Bynes' recent legal woes, 40-year-old Garth decided to offer support to her 26-year-old co-star.

"I tried reaching out to her and I haven't been able to reach her," said Garth, according to Us Weekly. "My heart feels for whatever she is going through and I love her dearly."

On Tuesday, Bynes was supposed to appear in court but failed to do so, reported TMZ. Instead, her attorney Richard Hutton entered a not guilty plea to two counts of driving on a suspended license on Bynes' behalf. The charges occurred last month, which led to the actress' car being impounded.

Garth is not the only person in Bynes' life trying to offer help, but the young actress is reportedly shutting out even her parents, according to Yahoo News. After Bynes' parents moved to Los Angeles in order to be closer to their troubled daughter, Bynes' allegedly fled to New York City.

Meanwhile, Garth has seen hardship of her own following her split from husband and "Twilight" actor Peter Facinelli. The couple we married for 11 years and share three children.

Since the news of their divorce went public, Garth has been very outspoken about her struggles to cope with Facinelli's decision to leave.

"It was something we were working through together," she said on NBC's "Today Show" earlier this year. "As anybody who's been through it, its always kind of shocking when it finally ends up happening."

Garth added that the ordeal was "sad" for her and her three daughters, but reassured viewers that her "family unit" will recover.

"We're a really great family, and we always will be, because we have three beautiful daughters together," said the actress.
