Amanda Bynes Sentenced to 3 Years Probation, Parents Planning Surprise Visit
Amanda Bynes reportedly pled no contest to charges of driving on a suspended license Thursday, and subsequently she was sentenced to three years probation.
The troubled actress, 27, was slapped with a $300 fine as part of a plea bargain deal negotiated by her lawyer Rich Hutton and she was warned against driving without a valid license or insurance. A second charge for the same offence was allegedly dismissed, according to TMZ.
The plea deal comes more than six months after Bynes, who has raised concerns for her mental well being in recent months, was charged by Los Angeles police. In addition to driving without a valid license she was also arrested and charged with a DUI and accused of a hit-and-run at least twice all on separate occasions.
The former Nickelodeon star has displayed a series of bizarre behavior in recent months which includes sexually explicit and offensive tweets targeting other celebrities like Jay-Z. The troubled actress has also been photographed acting strangely during random solo outings in New York City, where she moved shortly after experiencing legal woes in L.A..
At one point Bynes was seen publicly smoking an unknown substance and reportedly talking to herself. She has also had a series of drastic makeovers which include a cheek piercing and wigs.
She randomly shaved half of her head April 25 and she has shared various semi-nude photographs with her 870,000 Twitter followers.
Although Bynes previously admitted to cutting ties with her concerned parents, Lynn and Rick, she recently reached out to them and they are now said to be on good terms. They are reportedly planning a trip from L.A. to New York to check up on their daughter and to ensure her health and well being.
"Amanda's parents are ecstatic that they were able to reconnect with her last week and they're hoping it will last," a source told RadarOnline.com.
"A visit is planned, but they've purposely not told Amanda exactly when it will be because they want to catch her off guard and see how she's living her day-to-day life in New York," the source added.
While Bynes insists that she is fine, her parents are reportedly not convinced. A source previously explained that legally they are "powerless" to stage any type of intervention because she is an adult.
"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at Amanda and surmise that she is having some sort of crisis. Her makeover is just one example of her troubling behavior. Her parents just wish the media would leave Amanda alone, because it's only making the situation worse. Amanda is lost and she refuses to get help," a source reportedly told RadarOnline.com.
"Her parents are powerless to do anything because she is 27 years of age and there is very little they can do, under the law," the source added.
