Meredith Kercher's Father Lashes Out, Calls Amanda Knox's Halloween Partying 'Insensitive'

On Nov. 1, 2007, Meredith Kercher was found murdered in her Perugia, Italy apartment, her throat slashed.

The father of the slain girl is now protesting one of the accused murderer's Halloween celebration on Sunday.

Amanda Knox, the young woman accused of Kercher’s murder, is back in Seattle after her own four-year ordeal in an Italian prison and two sensational criminal trials, the latest of which led to her release.

Nonetheless, the 24-year old Knox did lose the opportunity to celebrate. She was caught by a TMZ photographer walking down a street and wearing a cat-burglar costume. Knox's choice of a costume has gotten a severe condemnation from the Kercher family.

"I think it’s very insensitive of Amanda Knox, especially considering it is the fourth anniversary of Meredith's death. The anniversary is obviously a very difficult time for our family and images like this don’t help."

Knox's court battles are not over. The Kercher family is reportedly set to appeal to the Italian Supreme Court against the release of Knox and her ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Solecito .

John Kercher has not given up on investigating the case further even though Rudy Guede, a convicted drug dealer, was found guilty of Meredith Kercher's death and is now serving 16 years in prison.

The Kerchers still believe that Guede did not act alone, and have even considered a civil court case against Knox.

Amanda Knox stands to cash in on her four-year saga. Sources say that the payout could be in the neighborhood of $10 million for her complete, inside story.

Knox is believed to be considering a book deal and appearances on the major U.S. talk shows, but Mr. Kercher has said that he does not believe his daughter’s tragic death deserves to be exploited:

“I find it distasteful that Knox stands to make millions from what happened to Meredith. I don’t think anyone should make money out of it – not us, not them.”
