Amanda Knox Latest News: Former Italian Boyfriend Seeks Reunion

Raffaele Sollecito Tells Oggi Magazine of His Romance With Knox

Although on separate continents, Amanda Knox and her former Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito have remained in close contact since both were acquitted Oct. 3 of murdering Meredith Kercher.

“We need each other – we speak to each other on the phone and write to each other every day,” Sollecito told the Italian Weekly Oggi.

Although Amanda Knox continues to avoid the public eye after her return to America, paparazzi have spotted her hanging out with friends and shopping multiple times around her hometown of Seattle since she disembarked by plane Oct. 4 – just one day after she was acquitted in Perugia, Italy.

Sollecito also told the magazine that he would visit Knox in Seattle, possibly earlier than Christmas.

“I could go at any moment. I really want to see her again, to speak with her and look into her eyes,” he said.

Oggi magazine is the same publication that after Knox’s acquittal sold an issue with Knox’s face on the cover, complete with a set of four black kitchen knives and a pizza cutter.

The public had chastised Knox and Sollecito after paparazzi snapped photos of the two kissing and smiling one day after Kercher was killed.

Italian persecution cast Knox and Sollecito as sex-craved deviants who forced Kercher to participate in an orgy against her will.

“My family's the most important thing for me right now and I just want to go and be with them, so thank you for being there for me,” she told the public at a press conference.

Knox and Sollecito both won their appeals of the 2007 murder of Kercher, who was found in her Perugia flat, with signs of sexual abuse and stab wounds on her body and neck.

Knox originally received 26 years in Italian prison, while Sollecito received 25 years.

Knox spent four years in Italian prison awaiting her verdict, and must pay $54,000 to Congolese bar owner Patrick Lumumba for defaming his name in court, telling the jury he was Kercher’s killer.

Rudy Guede of the Ivory Coast is currently serving 16 years for Kercher’s murder after his DNA was found on the victim’s body.

Knox, now 24, is expected to make millions from of her first public interview, which many expect will be awarded to either Diane Sawyer of ABC or Matt Lauer of NBC.
