Amanda Knox Latest News: Knox's Ex Says 'Cruel Injustice' Ruined Relationship

In his first interview since their murder convictions were overturned, Raffaele Sollecito has discussed his former relationship with American student Amanda Knox, suggesting that their young love was not allowed to blossom properly due to the intense circumstances both were forced to endure.

Only weeks after the pair started dating, Knox and Sollecito became suspects in a murder trial that ultimately landed the young lovebirds behind bars for four years.

Sollecito told the Italian television station of his relationship with Knox, “Our love was like a seed that was not allowed to grow because it was brutally stamped on. We were both victims of a cruel injustice and our relationship was overcome.”

Sollecito added that his relationship with Knox was “overcome by this tragedy” but did say that although the circumstances are very different for the both of them he still felt “affection” for her.

Sollecito has previously said that he would take Knox up on her invitation to visit her in her native Seattle. He told the Italian Weekly Oggi that the two needed each other and spoke frequently.

Sollecito added, “I really want to see her again, to speak with her and look into her eyes.”

However, it appears that in her recent months of freedom, Knox has already moved on from her former Italian flame as pictures surfaced last week with the 24-year-old walking hand-in-hand with a tall, lean, and bearded man.

Knox has yet to give her first interview. However, it is projected that the young student turned media sensation is slated to earn millions from her first public appearance, since she became an international media fixation following the murder of her former British roommate Meredith Kercher.

Kercher was murdered in the apartment she shared with Knox on Nov. 1, 2007. Her bloodied body was found covered in a blanket with dozens of stab wounds and a slit in her throat.

Knox, Sollecito, and another man, Rudy Guede from the Ivory Coast were all convicted of the murder 2009 in what was described as a drug-fueled sex game gone wrong.

Knox and Sollecito appealed their case and were ultimately released due to what appears to be a lack of evidence against the two former flames.

Following the acquittal the President of the Perugia appeals court Judge Claudio Pratillo Hellmann told Italian reporters that the two judges and six jurors ultimately decided the fates of Knox and Sollecito by following their “conscience” when coming to their decision to acquit the young American of her murder sentence.

Hellman said, “This was a difficult case, controversial but we did what was in our conscience.” Nevertheless, Hellman did say that both Knox and her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito might know the “real truth” behind what happened the night Knox’s former roommate Meredith Kercher was killed.

Hellmann also stated, “They could also be responsible but the proof isn’t there.”
