Amanda Knox Latest News: Science Proves Her Innocence, Says Professor
Greg Hampikian, Boise State University professor, has claimed that “science” proves Amanda Knox’s innocence in the Meredith Kercher murder mystery.
Addressing an audience of 200, Hampikian said Kercher was sexually assaulted and murdered “by one guy – Rudy Guede.”
A drifter from the Ivory Coast, Guede was previously convicted of the murder along with Knox, and her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito.

“You had one guy whose DNA was all over the victim,” said Hampikian, according to Spokesman.com.
The professor told of his experiment, where researchers collected soda cans, used by employees of the dean’s office, and unopened knives, still in its packaging. After collecting and tagging the cans and knives, without changing gloves between every piece of evidence, but only between every other piece – Hampikian found that a tiny amount of the employee’s DNA was transferred unknowingly by lab workers to one of the knives – even though she’d never touched it or seen it.
“You can transfer DNA in this way,” Hampikian stated.
According to the Boise State professor, standards for reading the DNA evidence in Knox’s case was lowered so far that the tests were not valid. Hampikian contends that is what the Italian courts eventually found, Spokesman.com wrote.
An appeals court acquitted Amanda Knox of murdering her British roommate, who was killed during a drug-influenced sex game that went awry. A jury of six, along with two judges, overturned Knox’s 26-year jail sentence for the 2007 murder.
Knox’s attorneys argued that the DNA evidence against the 24-year-old was highly flawed, following a forensics review which cast a shadow of doubt on the traces of DNA found on a kitchen knife and Kercher’s bra clasp.
Both Knox and Sollecito were acquitted of the murder charges Oct. 3.
Amanda Knox touched American soil for the first time in four years Tuesday, Oct. 4 – following her arrival in Seattle, Wash., on a British Airways flight.
“I’m really overwhelmed right now,” Knox tearfully told supporters upon landing. “I was looking down from the airplane, and it seemed like everything wasn’t real.”
Her voice was cracking with emotion as she said, "What's important for me to say is just thank you, to everyone who has believed in me, who has defended me, who has supported my family.”
According to Knox, the most important thing to her right now was to be with her family.
“Thank you for being there for me,” she added.
Rudy Guede is currently serving a 16-year prison sentence for his role in Kercher’s murder.
