Amazon $50 tablet vs Galaxy Tab S2 vs iPad 3
Amazon has launched its $50 tablet Fire in a bid to compete with high-flyers in the same industry, and the new 7-inch device is already being compared to similar devices from other brands.
Amazon's Fire tablet is made specifically for easier discovery and consumption of books, games, and movies and at the lowest cost possible. The Amazon Fire will be available on shelves on Sept. 30, according to Laptop Mag.
The new Amazon Fire's 7-inch screen has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It runs on a 1.3-gigahertz chip with 1 GB of RAM. It also has 8 GB of storage expandable via microSD slot. The rear and front cameras of the device are mediocre. The 10-inch version of the device is currently being pitted against the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and its Apple counterpart, Android Police reports.
Amazon has also launched an 8-inch Fire HD tablet that comes with a price tag of $130 and a 10.1-inch variant priced at $230. The two devices use the new Fire OS 5, which includes new updates.
The Amazon Fire HD 10 boasts of a wide-screen display perfect for movies and TV show streaming. It also has a microSD slot for expansion of storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera and 720-pixel front camera. It measures 0.3 inches in thickness and weighs 15.2 ounces. The device runs the quad-core MediaTek processor with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The quality of its battery is still undisclosed.
The Fire HD 10 is a bit larger than Samsung's Galaxy Tab S2, which has a 9.7-inch screen with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution. The Tab S2 is 0.22-inch thick and weighs 13.72 ounces. It runs the octa-core Exynos 5433 processor with 3 GB or RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The device, which has a starting price of $499, is powered by a 5870 mAh battery and sports an 8-megapixel rear snapper and 2.1-megapixel front camera, the report details.
The iPad Air 3, on the other hand, will reportedly sport a 9.7-inch screen with 22334 x 3112 pixel resolution and will cost more than $600. The device will be 15-millimeter thick It will also run on an A9 chip with at least 2 GB of RAM and at least 32 GB of internal storage. Rumors say it will have an 8-megapixel rear shooter and a 2.1-megapixel front camera and will be powered by a 7,340 mAh battery, the Vine Report states.
Looking at the cameras, storage, processor, and screen quality, the Amazon Fire tablet is clearly inferior compared with the Galaxy Tab S2 and the upcoming iPad Air 3, plus it is a bit bulkier. However, it is the cheapest among the three and it is perfect for consumers who want to maximize content capacity for a limited budget.
