Amazon Kindle Fire Release Date: Amazon App Store Updated Before Release

The Amazon App Store was updated in preparation for the impending release of the Kindle Fire.

Version 2.0 of the Amazon App Store features a completely overhauled interface. Users will have an easier time searching subscription content, featured items, and applications that are free or on sale.

"The Amazon App Store has gained headlines by becoming, for many, the preferred choice of finding Android apps. Users who go to the platform generally find the experience much better and easier than navigating through Google's own Android Market,” said TGDaily.

The website also mentioned the sales potential for the Kindle Fire: "With the Kindle Fire set to start shipping in a matter of days, Amazon's presence in Android is going to get a big jolt, and that means the Amazon App Store will become even more popular."

Some reports claimed app developers choose to develop for the Amazon App Store over the Android Market.

Amazon's Kindle Fire tablet will feature a 7-inch Multi-touch 1024 x600 display with 169 ppi, the Amazon Silk web browser, up to 8 hours of battery life and a deep integration with numerous Amazon services. Users will be able to stream books, movies and music from Amazon's services.

Amazon recently increased its order for the device in the United States due to strong demand from customers.

The company contacted its manufacturing partners, and it made 5 million units of the device available. Several retail shops will now have a larger stock of the Kindle Fire.

On its first day of pre-order availability, approximately 100,000 copies of the Kindle Fire were counted.

According to sources for technology website DigiTimes, Amazon increased its orders last quarter from 3.5 million to 4 million units.

The Kindle Fire computer tablet will make its debut in stores on Nov. 15. The tablet will retail at $199.
